Sonny Kendall is a British actor best known for playing Tommy Moon in the BBC soap opera EastEnders. He joined the popular television series in 2021 and became part of several dramatic storylines exploring bullying, family relationships, and the challenges faced by young people. Through his work on the long-running programme, Kendall has gained recognition among British television audiences and received attention for his performances as a young actor.
Born on January 13, 2010, according to publicly available biographical listings, Sonny Kendall is 16 years old as of October 2026. Although his acting career has brought him into the public eye, he keeps much of his personal life away from the spotlight. As a result, information about his family, education, private relationships, and financial circumstances remains limited.
This article explores Sonny Kendall’s biography, age, early life, acting career, role in EastEnders, award nominations, social media presence, and estimated net worth.
Who Is Sonny Kendall?
Sonny Kendall is an English actor who rose to prominence through his portrayal of Tommy Moon in EastEnders. The BBC soap opera is one of Britain’s best-known television dramas, with stories centred on the lives, relationships, and personal struggles of residents in the fictional London neighbourhood of Walford.
Kendall became part of the programme in 2021, taking over the role of Tommy Moon from another young actor. His casting introduced a new portrayal of the character and allowed him to become involved in important storylines concerning Tommy’s relationships with his family and other people around him.
Unlike actors who become famous through a single film or a short television appearance, Kendall’s career has developed through an ongoing role. A long-running television series gives performers the opportunity to develop their characters over time, responding to changing circumstances and more complicated emotional situations.
His portrayal of Tommy has included scenes involving school bullying, anger, family conflict, and difficult decisions. These subjects have made the character an important part of some of the programme’s more serious storylines.
Although Sonny Kendall is still young, his work on EastEnders has provided him with experience in a demanding television environment. His public profile remains closely connected to the programme, and his continuing development as an actor is a key part of his story.
Sonny Kendall’s Age, Birthday and Early Life
Sonny Kendall’s date of birth is listed as January 13, 2010, in publicly available biographical profiles. Based on that date, he turned 16 in January 2026.
His age is particularly relevant to his acting career because he began playing Tommy Moon while he was still a child. Over the years, audiences have been able to watch the character grow older and face increasingly complicated situations.
Public biographies identify Kendall as British, with England listed as his birthplace. However, detailed information about his hometown, childhood experiences, and family background is not consistently documented in reliable public sources.
Kendall’s early professional development is associated with Rhodes Theatre School and Agency, which has been mentioned in biographical listings. Beyond that information, a detailed account of his acting training and early education is not readily available.
Because he entered a major television production at a young age, balancing school and professional commitments is a natural point of interest for viewers. However, the details of his schooling and daily routine have not been publicly established with sufficient reliability.
What is clear is that Kendall began building his professional acting experience during childhood. His role in EastEnders gave him the opportunity to learn within an established television production and work alongside experienced performers.
Sonny Kendall’s Acting Career
Sonny Kendall’s best-known professional achievement is his role in EastEnders. Joining a major soap opera at a young age gave him the opportunity to develop his acting skills through regular television work rather than relying on occasional appearances.
Joining EastEnders in 2021
Kendall joined EastEnders in 2021, taking over the role of Tommy Moon from Shay Crotty. Published casting histories list July 2, 2021, as the date of his on-screen debut in the role.
Tommy was already an established character in the programme, having appeared in the story as a young child. Kendall therefore had to continue an existing character’s history while bringing his own interpretation to the part.
Taking over a role in a long-running series can be challenging. Viewers already have expectations about a character, and the actor must maintain continuity while adapting to new scripts and storylines. Kendall’s continuing association with Tommy has allowed him to build experience in this type of performance.
Developing as a Young Television Actor
One of the defining features of Kendall’s work is the emotional complexity of his character’s storylines. Tommy’s experiences have included bullying, conflict with his mother, and problems affecting his family.
These scenes require more than simply delivering dialogue. Young actors must communicate emotions such as fear, anger, frustration, and confusion while remaining believable within the story.
Kendall’s role has placed him in situations where Tommy’s actions have consequences for other characters. This has helped make the character an important part of the programme’s family drama.
His established public career is primarily connected to EastEnders. There is not enough reliable information to provide a comprehensive list of other major television or film roles, so claims about additional projects should be treated cautiously.
Sonny Kendall as Tommy Moon in EastEnders
Tommy Moon is the fictional character that made Sonny Kendall widely recognisable to EastEnders viewers. Tommy is the son of Kat Slater and Michael Moon, and his family connections place him within the wider Slater and Moon families in Walford.
The character’s story has changed considerably as he has grown older. What began as the story of a young child within a complicated family has developed into a series of more serious plots involving school, behaviour, and relationships at home.
Kendall took over the role in 2021 and became involved in storylines that brought Tommy into conflict with other young people and members of his own family.
Tommy Moon’s Bullying Storyline
One important storyline involving Tommy centred on bullying at school. In 2022, the programme explored the consequences of Tommy being targeted by older boys after he tried to protect his half-sister, Scarlett.
The situation escalated when Tommy took a knife to school, leading to a dangerous confrontation. The story examined how bullying and fear can affect a young person’s judgement and how an attempt to protect oneself or someone else can lead to serious consequences.
Rather than presenting the issue as a simple disagreement between children, the storyline explored the emotional pressure surrounding Tommy’s behaviour. It also showed how problems at school can affect relationships at home.
For Kendall, the storyline provided an opportunity to portray a young character dealing with anxiety, anger, and the desire to feel safe. It demonstrated how a soap opera can use fictional events to explore real concerns affecting children and families.
Tommy Moon’s Relationship With Kat Slater
Another major storyline focused on Tommy’s increasingly aggressive behaviour towards his mother, Kat Slater, played by Jessie Wallace.
In 2024, EastEnders explored child-to-parent abuse through Tommy’s behaviour and its impact on Kat and the wider family. The storyline addressed a difficult subject that is not always openly discussed, showing how harmful behaviour within a household can affect both parents and children.
As Tommy’s behaviour became more serious, Kat faced the challenge of protecting her family while trying to understand what was happening to her son. The story explored the emotional conflict that can arise when a parent loves a child but is also frightened or hurt by that child’s actions.
The BBC consulted specialist organisations and experts while developing the storyline, helping the programme address the subject with greater care.
This plot became one of the most significant parts of Tommy’s development. It required Kendall to portray a character whose actions damaged family relationships while also showing the complicated emotions behind the conflict.
It is important to distinguish these fictional events from Kendall’s real life. Tommy Moon’s behaviour and family relationships are part of a television script and should not be treated as evidence about the actor’s personal circumstances.
Tommy Moon’s Continuing Story
Tommy’s story continued beyond the initial bullying and family-conflict plots. His relationships with other characters and his place within the Slater-Moon family remained important elements of EastEnders.
Kendall’s continuing association with the character has allowed the programme to explore how earlier events affect Tommy’s later decisions. Long-running soap operas often return to previous conflicts and show their consequences over months or years.
For Kendall, this type of role offers opportunities to develop a character gradually and work with a consistent group of performers. His work as Tommy Moon remains the central documented part of his acting career.
Sonny Kendall’s Awards and Achievements
Sonny Kendall has received recognition through nominations at British television and soap opera award ceremonies. These nominations have helped draw attention to his performances as a young actor.
British Soap Awards
Kendall was nominated in the Best Young Performer category at the 2022 British Soap Awards for his work in EastEnders. He was also listed as a nominee in the same category for the 2025 ceremony.
The category recognises young performers working in British soap operas, where actors may be required to appear regularly and take part in emotionally demanding storylines.
A nomination does not necessarily mean a performer won the award, but it does indicate that their work received attention within the industry.
National Television Awards
Kendall has also been listed in public biographical records as a nominee in the Rising Star category at the 2022 National Television Awards.
Recognition at a major television awards ceremony can help increase a young performer’s visibility among viewers and industry professionals. It also reflects the attention that his work on EastEnders attracted during the early stages of his career.
Other Recognition
Public biographical listings have also associated Kendall with a Best Young Performer nomination at the Inside Soap Awards and a third-place result in the Favourite Young Performer category at the 2022 TVTimes Awards.
These records should be distinguished from confirmed wins. The most accurate way to describe his achievements is to identify the categories and years in which he received recognition rather than suggesting that he won every award for which he was nominated.
His continued role in EastEnders, combined with recognition for his performances, represents the clearest picture of his professional progress so far.
Sonny Kendall’s Family and Personal Life
Despite his public career, Sonny Kendall has kept much of his personal life private. Information about his family and background is less widely available than information about his television work.
Who Are Sonny Kendall’s Parents?
Reliable public information about Kendall’s parents is limited. The sources used for his biography do not establish enough detail to provide a confirmed account of their names, occupations, or personal lives.
It is natural for viewers to wonder about the family behind a young actor’s career, particularly when the actor began working in television as a child. However, without reliable public statements or interviews, it would be inappropriate to present assumptions about his parents as facts.
Does Sonny Kendall Have Any Siblings?
There is not enough verified public information to establish a complete account of Kendall’s siblings or family relationships.
This question can also cause confusion because Tommy Moon has siblings within the fictional world of EastEnders. The character’s family relationships are part of the programme’s story and should not be confused with the actor’s actual family.
Is Sonny Kendall in a Relationship?
There is no reliable public confirmation establishing that Kendall is in a romantic relationship. Since he is a young actor, speculation about his dating life should not be treated as factual information.
A responsible biography should focus on his work and publicly confirmed achievements rather than rumours about his private relationships.
What Is Known About His Life Away From Acting?
Kendall’s public profile mainly centres on his work in EastEnders. Information about his hobbies, friendships, everyday routine, and interests outside acting is limited.
As a young performer, he has a professional life that is visible to television audiences and a private life that does not need to be fully documented. Respecting that distinction allows readers to learn about his career without making unsupported claims about his personal circumstances.
Sonny Kendall’s Net Worth and Earnings
Sonny Kendall’s net worth has not been reliably established. There is no sufficiently verified public financial information that confirms the value of his personal assets, savings, or total earnings.
Some celebrity websites publish estimated net-worth figures based on assumptions about television salaries, appearances, and other possible income sources. Unless these estimates are supported by dependable evidence, they should not be presented as confirmed financial facts.
How Does Sonny Kendall Earn Money?
Kendall’s most clearly documented professional work is his role in EastEnders. Television acting can provide income through contracts and other professional engagements, but his individual salary and contract terms have not been reliably established.
It would therefore be misleading to assign him a specific annual income or total net worth without supporting evidence.
There is also an important distinction between professional earnings and personal wealth. The financial arrangements of young performers can differ from those of adult actors, and an actor’s reported income does not automatically establish the amount of money they personally own or control.
The most accurate conclusion is that Kendall’s net worth remains publicly unconfirmed. His acting career is established, but an exact financial estimate would be speculative.
Sonny Kendall on Instagram and Social Media
Social media is one way television actors can connect with audiences and share updates about their professional work. However, identifying a genuine account can sometimes be difficult, particularly when a performer has fan pages or accounts with similar names.
Does Sonny Kendall Have an Instagram Account?
Famous Birthdays lists the Instagram handle @sonnyboy_kendall in its profile of Sonny Kendall. However, this listing alone does not establish whether the account is currently active or officially verified.
Anyone looking for his profile should check for confirmation from a recognised professional source or an established account connected to his work before assuming that a page is genuine.
His Public Online Presence
Kendall’s public identity is closely associated with EastEnders and his portrayal of Tommy Moon. Social media may provide opportunities to share photographs, professional updates, and information about his work, but not every account using an actor’s name is necessarily official.
Because Kendall is young, it is also important to respect his privacy and avoid spreading personal information from unverified accounts.
Sonny Kendall’s Career and Future Prospects
As of October 2026, Sonny Kendall’s best-documented acting role remains Tommy Moon in EastEnders. His involvement in the programme since 2021 has given him experience in a major British television production and exposure to a range of dramatic storylines.
Playing a continuing character can help an actor develop several important skills, including emotional expression, consistency, collaboration, and the ability to respond to changing scripts. Kendall’s work has required him to portray a character dealing with difficult relationships and serious personal problems.
His experience as a young performer may provide a foundation for other opportunities as his career develops. However, future roles should not be assumed unless they have been announced through reliable sources.
Whether Kendall eventually moves into films, other television dramas, theatre, or continues working in soap operas will depend on the opportunities he chooses to pursue. His career is still developing, and it is too early to draw firm conclusions about its long-term direction.
For now, his established role in EastEnders and the recognition he has received for his performances provide the clearest indication of his professional achievements.
